About
I study what systems reveal while trying to conceal.
Today, that means blockchain investigations, because on a blockchain a trace can be obscured but never erased. I trace illicit funds through mixers, bridges and DeFi protocols, reconstruct how value moves, and identify the services and mechanisms used to conceal it.
I started as an investigator and went on to lead investigations. I followed cases from the first suspicious transaction to evidence that exchanges, stablecoin issuers, law firms and law enforcement could act on. Along the way, I built a deterministic investigation platform that automates what should never depend on who runs the analysis: tracing, interpreting and classifying how funds move. The result is a system where the same evidence always leads to the same conclusion.
Finding the answer is only half an investigation. The other half is making every step that led there explicit, reproducible and open to challenge. That is what I build: investigative methodologies and deterministic systems that don't replace expert judgment but make it possible to inspect, reproduce and transfer.
That interest predates blockchain.
I trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where I also tutored semiotics and pedagogy, and graduated with highest honors with a thesis on semiotic relationships across systems. Its question was simple: how can we infer the structure and behavior of one system from what it leaves behind?
An investigation is that question under a deadline.
I keep exploring it in Constraints, my newsletter on what blockchains reveal and conceal, and in my research projects and prototypes: Container NFTs, Atomic Barter and Portable Sentinel each test what can be proven, exchanged or observed between systems.
I am interested in what remains when a system is adversarial, incomplete or deliberately opaque. Blockchains happen to be a particularly good place to look.
Outside blockchain, I write short stories and poetry in Italian, and I have created installations and other artistic work.
